They are grown from rhizome or tubers. They are not bulbs but a thick rhizome grows under the soil which emits green long leaves. Leaves are dark green and some species also have bright green. The leaves are thick and strong. Cannas are available in many beautiful colours. The reds are too good, especially the one I have is very deep crimson red colour. The yellow one shown in the picture is red and yellow shaded flower. Cannas are also available in orange, peach, pink and many shaded varieties are also available. Transplanting is very easy and each piece of the tuber produces a new plant. They require some fertilizing for regular flowering and they give beautiful flowers all year round.
