The Mystical Raat Ki Raani Plant Folk lores and Why Your Raat Ki Raani Plant dies?

The mystical Raat Ki Raani Plant with its creamish fragrant flowers are worth growing!

Beautiful Fragrant Raat Ki Raani flower plant

Tubular shaped small Raat Ki Raani Flowers Bunches

So many buds of Raat ki Raani Flowers plant

Fully loaded and looking soooo happy! with all its traditional lore about snakes and jins staying on this, and so many stories the raat ki raani , Night queen enjoys its stay in many societies. So happy to see this one blooming Awesumly! It is not only a prized possession but the fragrance is heavenly citric and freshens up your mind and soul.  Snakes, Fairies, Angels, dwell upon plants with fragrant blooms.

Buds on Raat Ki Raani Plant

Yet more so, old grannies used to say white flowers, especially Champa, flower of joy also has the same lores. I do agree on fairies and nature spirits being in the garden but not in a bad way, as they do take care of your garden when you are not there! That’s why my gardens are always green!! Of course only when you are a dedicated loving gardener, even for a few days absence they take care of your plants and it is proved , whenever we go for short trips and watering is skipped, the same plants that go limp in a day without water, survive for a week and spring back when watered! Magic exists if you believe in it!

One of the most mystical blooms, that still brings discussions when mentioned! The lore about snakes and fairies continues...yet people fascinated by this Awesum plant keep growing it, The Raat Ki raani, Night Queen, Fragrant Jasmine.  Share the love, kindly post queries and comments about Night blooming Jasmine , The Queen of Night, Raat Ki Raani, plant here as the previous post has tons of comments and takes time to load, the comments sharing do help guide us for better ways to garden and flowering. Queen of Night or our commonly known raat ki raani is a fragrant flowering bush. Commonly also known as Night blooming jasmine, night scented jessamine the cestrum nocturnum fowering bush can grow in all climates and is an evergreen flowering bush. After hearing a lot of tales and folk lores about this heavenly fragrant plant the desire to plant this bush in my terrace garden was too strong and this time I decided to add this Raat Raani plant to my family of fragrant jasmines and champa flowering plants.

The fragrance is heavenly citrus and distinct and can be felt from many houses away especially in the summers when the days are hot and the nights cool. The new entry Raat ki rani plant is growing in container in a place where it gets partial sunlight for some parts of the day. There is a riot of fragrances on our terrace with many plants commanding attention. The plant night blooming jasmine has flowered well and the bush has white tubular flowers growing in a bunches. It seems the plant is very humble and is laden with many fragrant flowers.

Blooming Raat Ki Raani Flowers on Plant

The plant I hear develops fruits like berries after flowering. It is also known that the raat rani plant cestrum nocturnum has all parts that are poisonous, right from the flowers to the roots to the berries.Have to be careful with my birds and I have planted this beautiful fragrant flowering bush raat ki rani in a container and have kept it in a partially shaded area where birds do not come frequently. Care of raat ki rani flowering plant would include watering regularly and choosing the right place for planting. The plant when skipped watering droops and develops yellow leaves which lead to leaf drop and drying of the plant. The plant after flowering will need dead heading of flowers and trimming to get plenty of healthy blooms. The raat ki rani grows best when trimmed and kept in the size and shape of a bush other wise it grows thin developing a long stem trailing like a climber and taking over the other pots. It look also good when the white flowers grow on the bush and the sight is wonderful to see the round shape of the raat ki rani bush laden with tiny tubular while flowers growing in bunches drooping down with its weight, and of course the heavenly fragrance. I still have to get it clear that the flowers only start spreading fragrance when late evening sun sets in and night breeze blows. There is also a folk lore or belief heard since ages that this raat ki raani attracts snakes, maybe because of its fragrance there may be a host of bees and birds near it! some people also mention growing the Din Ka Raja plant near it to ward off this belief , well till now not experienced , and I doubt all these beliefs, with so many fragrances around champa, jasmine, jai juhi, mogra, tube roses and the many colourful fragrant roses growing on our terrace, I guess I have a strong attraction to these fragrant flowering plants. I believe the angels nature spirits may be happily dancing at night enjoying the heavenly fragrances around our terrace. Welcoming blessings to our home my planting and gardening has brought great feng shui positive energy to our life.

Why you can't grow, unable to grow,  Raat Ki Raani plant?  I always advice to buy a flowering sapling that has fragrant flowers on it, otherwise you sometimes never see flowers! The breed may be non flowering.
The  Raat ki raani plant does not like direct sunlight, and grows happily in indirect sunlight or maybe direct sunlight for only few hours. You can  trim it for encouraging flowering and also the shape of a more fuller bushy growth.

Sometimes your Raat ki raani plant is attacked by pests, root rot, white fungus and you have to check this immediately other wise it will not make it..

chose a medium sized plastic container that will retain moisture and allow the plant soil to remain moist for longer time. This helps the plant to grow better.

Some Important Care for Raat Ki Raani plant during summers-

1) place  plants under full sunlight or partial light for at least few hours.

2) Avoid very dark corners as there is tendency of slugs snails and pests to attack the plant.

3) Water carefully, summers are hot but over watering may lead to root rot.

4) If the new Raat ki Raani plants are giving out stems let them grow in the same pot. When the roots are developed and the plant looks healthy then you can trim them.

5) Keep checking the plant in summers for pests, and you can add some feeding too nourish and get healthy  flowers.  with beautiful fragrant blooms pests and creatures do love this.

6) Flowers and  leaves may burn in full sun so partial is best as it loses its fragrance fast in full hot sun. Flowers of Night queen also dry off after flowering and then drop.

7) Very Very important-well draining rich nutrient soil, other wise , we have lost many precious ones over the years due to root rot and even I think rats are the reason.

Mystical Brahma kamal Flowers Fantasy and Obsession Continues

The Flower of Gods Brahma Kamal, the flower of Lord Brahma! Brahma kamal plant, fascinated with the exotic unique flowers of the Queen of Night, Saussurea obvallata, the dream of viewing this flower at least once in this life time still continues..so over the years I have bought so many plant, cuttings, but yet, unable to bring the growth of flowers in these plants. With care and love tried to save many dying Brahma Kamal plants,  this time was they are growing well in containers in my window garden.

My Brahma Kamal Plants

Fresh roots from Brahma Kamal leaves

Brahma Kamal flowers Photo by a blog lover

I am very laert now with so many years of experience in losing so many... As soon as I saw a few leaves drying of, the edges, I took action. With so many years of terrace gardening , now with the entryway garden the Brahma Kamal plants look happy. I trim the dried portions immediately to save the full leaf. I water them carefully and thoroughly within few days and not everyday. the soil is good and plants are firm in the containers.

Important Care of Brahma Kamal plants

1) Choose medium size container and not large. The Brahma Kamal plants loves to be root bound.

2) Soil has to be well draining to avoid root rotting. The soil must be mixture of gravel and soil.

3) If you see edges of Brahma Kamal leaves drying off, trim them, this saves the whole leaf from dying.

4) If the soil is clogged and you see the leaves of the plant drooping, transplant immediately.

5) Multiply them so you have more chances to see some one flower! Remember each leaf can grow in a new plant. I had a profusely growing plant so I took leaves and potted them in new containers.

 6) Important step in growing plant from cuttings. While you cut a Brahma Kamal leaf let it dry for some time to heal, other wise the leaf rots. I Request the plant before cutting and them immediately apply some soil to the cut portion to help it heal. remember plants are alive, they listen to us.

7)It needs some support with a wooden stick you can tie the long leaves to protect them from getting spoiled touching  the ground.  I have seen that even if the plant looks like dying if you see an single erect leaf give that leaf some support , it will immediately bring out roots and new leaves.

8) The plant needs strong soil and firm support, if you pull out the plant , an old plant will not come out. and a sick plant will immediately leave soil. This is an important tip to see how healthy your Brahma Kamal plant is.

9) Avoid over watering few days after transplanting new cuttings. for the transplanted cuttings Brahma Kamal plant, do not water heavily. Spray carefully or else they die. Once they root they will grow strong.

10) Flowering can be induced by adding fertilisers but I have never done this. I only add egg shells sometimes. personally I feel this does not require fertilising. If its destiny.. you will see the flowers!

11) Give it space. Since the plant grows elongated leaves like tentacles it needs air circulation well. If you keep plants too close to other plants they die off soon. They are royal plants and need some extra space!

Hope this helps!

why my garden feng shui is going wrong?

The YouTube video on Brahma Kamal was made on many requests from random plant lovers and Garden Care Simplified Blog Followers and as my obsessions continue with the dream to successfully grow and wait upon the Lord Brahma to bless me with the amazing flower..the wait continues... I had a lot of struggle to grow the Brahma Kamal plants.

Now in our window garden the climate is just right and the Brahma Kamal plants seem happy with indirect sunlight and controlled conditions.  Brahma Kamal flower seems to be elusive and yet the wait continues but my love for the flower seems to be increasing year after year.  for me the obsession with the Brahma Kamal continues...

Euphorbia milli Best Feng Shui The Goodluck plant Beautiful Flowers all year round

Euphorbia milli The Goodluck plant of Thailand, best feng shui goodluck plant,  has taken over our hearts due to its sturdiness and beautiful flowers that are seen all year round!  This is a very beautiful and attractive plant having green foliage and peach coloured flowers all year long. Gardens don't flourish just by singing songs to the plants, but yes, songs do helps, that's what I have experienced. "Gardens are not made by singing 'Oh, how beautiful,' and sitting in the shade. Rudyard Kipling.

The green leaves are elongated and cover the spikes/thorns. It has its own protective covering of bright green leaves which conceals the thorns well. This is a good choice for new gardeners as this does not require much care. It grows well in containers and spreads fast with more of branches(thorny) and looks like a bouquet of roses at a glance

During heavy rains it needs to be kept under protection otherwise it becomes very slushy and mushy and the stem rots killing the plant. Well it does not tolerate heavy downpour or excessive watering and it is advisable to keep the Euphorbia milli plant under part shade during all seasons. This plant also is a favourite home for butterflies to lay eggs due to the extensive green foliage. My plant had nearly more than fifty eggs and though I felt very bad in cleaning them but I had to save my plant. I have noticed the caterpillars have a voracious appetite and if neglected the plant may succumb to continuous feeding by them.

Since the Euphorbia milli is a cactus, it has stored water within. Water requirements are not much and can be watered on alternate days or when the upper layer of the mud seems dry. Compost may be added after few months to replenish the soil from lost nutrition due to watering.

Attractive and good feng shui plant for goodluck,  but only for those that are comfortable with thorny plants. Very powerful evil eye cure this plant provides strong protection from evil spirits and negative energies. In Feng Shui it is advisable to avoid plants having thorns in house but we cannot oversee the power of this plant attracting goodluck. In Chinese Japanese culture this plant is grown profusely at entrances to attract goodluck.  somehow it has made a place in my heart and my window sill garden with its attractive flowers and bright green leaves.

Euphorbia milli flowering cactus

Goodluck plant flowering cactus

When growing in containers the Euphorbia milli plant,  we have to keep it trimmed and that is the only difficult part since cutting needs precautions due to the thick thorns. Keep them away from your walking areas and also protected from children and pets. Entrance gardens are best for this plant. Window also is good to place them.

Why I love the Euphobia Milli? it comes in so many colours and requires very little care and flowers all year round! Plants give flowers in cream, white, yellow, pink, peach, red, orange. You can grow different coloured flower plants. Most commonly available is the peach colour flowered variety.

If you have any doubts, queries and issues with your container plants do comment on my blog posts, I will surely guide you, with my tons of practical experiences and answer with love!

We must grow roses if we want to see roses! Gardening no doubt will require some effort but think of the returns you will get, not just making the air pure and fresh but you set an example for the future generations to be close to earth, soil, roots. We will not see beautiful gardens just with a click, we have to  work towards it, make it happen, keep the daily care to see the amazingness of Mother Earth and attract gaia blessings. Immense Joy!

Most Beautiful Vibrant Flowers Petunias! photos and Important care for growing petunias

Petunias!!Red,Violet, Lilac, soothing pink, deep blue, purple, maroon, yellow, white, shaded variety of Petunias are also fantastic! I love the vibrant colours and what a Awesome show these blooms are really worth growing for it showy flowers!  The best season for petunias is from October till May. Planting is done after the rains as these delicate flowers of petunias do not tolerate heavy rains. These are Seasonal plants and flowering is between January to June,  but trust me it is really worth the show!

Petunia flowers

Petunias

Petunia flowering Plants grow from seeds and are not transplanted by cuttings. You get ready made flowering plants growing in plastic bags or wide mouthed hanging basket containers, so this is the best instead of struggling growing with seeds.

Watering care is most important as they need well draining soil. The roots are very delicate and do not tolerate more water. Even dry spells are not good for the plant as the delicate roots dry up very fast and you will notice the plant immediately shrivels. Regular watering is required with proper care to avoid spraying water over the flowers.

Petunia plants are best grown in hanging baskets or wide mouthed containers with well draining soil.

Husk, coir, and moss are great as base for growing petunias.Wide mouthed basket of cane layered with dried roots and dead foliage act as nourishment to this plant. Fertilise it with salts and compost for more flowering but do not over do it. The ready made fertiliser balls are good to induce flowering. Buy I have noticed not much care is required to see blooms, once they start flowering they do so even without extra nourishment. Indirect sunlight is essential for their flowering.

There are a variety of colours and patterns available in this type of Petunia flowering plants. And new shades are always added every year by cross breeding seeds of the original colours.

They always flower in bunches and hence quite a number of flowers are always visible on the plant. This is a very nice way of bringing colour in your garden, balcony or window sill. Care must be taken to avoid over watering other wise there is root root and if you add pressure while watering or use sprayer hose pipe to water the plant it comes out of the pot due to mushy roots.

Too much sunlight also damages the foliage and the green leaves dry out as also the roots dry out resulting in death of the plant. Continuous exposure of direct sunlight must be avoided also keeping in mind that sunlight is very necessary for all flowering plants.Partial shade or place having exposure of sun only during first half of the day is ideal for healthy growth.

Tree of God's Parijaat

With the petunias Beware of the pest attack! they are very delicate and usually attacked by rats and pigeons during summer to cool off during heat. Birds may pluck on the foliage or even uproot the whole plant for getting a cool base to sit!!!! rats can hide below the foliage and nibble on the delicate leaves and flowers. Pinching flowers is also a favourite past time for birds especially pigeons! Cover your plant with a dome shaped net and place some garden element or black cloth near the petunia plants to scare the birds. For me a small piece of plastic bag tied around the stems works fine ...till now.....there is daily war of survival with them and I have to be alert to protect my plants from the pigeons.

Also feeding them at times with dried egg shells and used tea leaves(dried, otherwise the tea rots to catch white fungus destroying your plant) has kept them satisfied and they seem happy giving vibrant flowers.

The best part is it these petunia plants are available in many colours and flower profusely. They are also cheap as compared to other flowering plants and of course they give more flowers. According to feng shui flowers bring life to the garden and home. Colourful flowers bring positive energy and refresh the environment as well the mood of the viewer. They are the best way to bring colour in your life!

share your experiences with growing petunias!

Effective Weight Loss and Feel Good Hormones with Gardening

Weight loss and feel good factor is what you will get as a result of gardening. How? I share in this post. If you are struggling in life with how to lose weight and also suffer from anxiety stress and depression, surely this way is very very effective. Try adding some green plants to your life.

Hands in Soil Enjoy Gaia Mother Earth Blessings

Repotting plants

Fragrant Anant flower Gardenia

It really works ! You can monitor how many calories you burn out when you clean your garden, trim off extra shoots of over grown plants and clean dead leaves from growing plants. As you need regular care for your gardens like trimming, watering, repotting, digging soil for planting new ones, transplanting and growing new ones from cuttings.

You will experience immense joy with total involvement in the gardening activities and find peace ,clarity and relaxed feelings. You will say you don't have space? or time? nowadays we get ready potted plants where you need to just water and trim and clear the dead leaves and soil from the base. I have seen many people start a garden but then tell their servants and maids to water and acre for those plants. Here you totally lose the purpose of gardening. You don't even benefit as you would if you personally do the tasks with love.

You may not have a large garden, a small window garden with collection of few plants also works to your benefit, physically and mentally. With adding a new plant there is so much hope and with a new bud flowering there is almost an adrenaline rush you can feel. You repot plants by digging soil in containers thus losing few calories. Trimming too takes up energy and also sweeping the floor of your garden is a good workout in fifteen days or a month.

Gardening will relax your mind and assist with weight loss. Mind also feels fresh and you get new creative ideas for your profession too. Whatever you are going through a sitting beside a jasmine flowering plant will immediately relax your brain and bring hope.

Add gardening to your daily workout schedules to get faster results with weight  loss programmes. You will also feel very grounded, connected to mother earth in this form which is really needed now as we stay in tall skyscrapers. We lose touch with mother earth.  What more take the walking challenge of 10,000 steps per day, a daily walk besides the swaying palms is a feeling out of this world!!!Assured results for weight loss!!

Buying plants online Review and important tips

Buying plants online, shopping for new plants online was a enlightening experience for me. Sharing three really important tips for

Buy Adenium plants online

Buy artificial plants online

Decorative plants online

Different colour flowers Adenium plants online shopping

Online purchase of plants in Sale

shopping for plants, real and artificial online.

Usually I prefer buying plants from plant nursery as I see the condition of leaves, flowers and overall general health of the plants before buying.  As the beautiful year is coming to an end wanted to add some Little new energy to our window gardens. And this really was tiny winy but addition to my surprise!!!

Earlier purchase were ok, as I understand shipping packaging real plants is difficult and the seller also has to bear these extra costs because buyers always compare prices for plants on ground level. Why don't we consider shipping packing also costs a substantial amount of money.

So tempted with the year end sales, ordered few artificial plants and some tubers of adenium plants online. Adenium plants are costly and exotic plants and we can buy in a price range from 650 Rs to 1100 depending upon the size and amount of flowers growing on the plant with container.  As far as I have bought my artificial plants a stalk ranges from 150 Rs 250 Rs to a bunch of exotic roses coming up to Rs 450 and more.

So with the tempting sale of beautiful colour flowers I ordered the adeniums from different online sources on Amazon and Flipkart. With the affordable rates we could get really tiny winy tubers, I have planted these with hope and love, wishing they grow well in my window garden.

They are quite limp and tiny. The packaging was good and large allowing the tuber to breathe.

Review of Artificial plants online shopping - These also are small size, but I guess the sales boost up was tempting so I usually avoid adding plastic but inclined as our windows don't receive much sunlight directly,so only Bougainvillia flowers grow. Cactus grow well and my favourite Rubber plant and swaying palms are happy!

Strong Rubber plant

Beautiful Palm plants

Important tips for shopping real  plants online -

1) Read the description carefully, photos are misleading.

2)See the reviews written on Amazon and Flipkart before ordering plants online.

3)Always remember the seller has to add shipping and package costs so the product May be a little bit on higher side price than purchased on ground level.

4) Do you have the time and energy? Here again don't forget when you go to plant nursery you spend travelling money and time, and also you have to carry the weight of plants bought. I am hence inclining more towards online plant purchase.

5) If the price is shockingly low, the plants are not in good condition or are really small in size. Paying a little more cash can get you good healthy plants. Because small size plants have more risk of dying and less chances of survival.

Tips for shopping artificial plants online -

1) Cheap price artificial plants online are not large size and have artificial look with their quality and colours.Pay more to buy good quality realistic looking plants.

2) Read the description well and check the mentioned size. Take a measure tape and see how much size the buyer has mentioned in the description.

3) Feeling really guilty to have added plastic to my home.  I may give these away.... If you don't have a green thumb and are not good at growing real plants buy succulents and cactus and indoor ornamental plants. These require less care and are happy with some love and neglect.

4) Read reviews before purchasing artificial plants online. It's good that you can now see photos in reviews so you understand well that product.

5) Climbers creepers, silk roses are really good in price range from 350 and more. They are worth it to add some auspicious feng shui energy to your house and office if you don't have time to grow real plants. Good affordable rates some beautiful English roses are with us since many years.

Red Rose realistic silk flowers stalk

Baby soft pink English roses bunch silk flowers

Exotic English Roses silk flowers bunches

6) You avoid spending precious time and travel money to shop for artificial plants, and now we have a wide range of realistic looking plants available online.

7) Photos can be misleading so be prepared to get light coloured flowers, a pink plant instead of red, a smaller size stalk, and cheaper silk flowers sometimes loose colour on washing. So the colour is not stable over longer period of time.

Hope this helps you with future online plant purchase. Happy Gardening from Rizwana!

Do share your experiences with shopping plants online in the comments! Thank you so much for connecting!!
