Window Sill Garden 3 Important Tips Add some Pizzaz! and How my garden is progressing

while the window sill garden is blooming with happiness this Summer, as it faces north, we do not have much of sunlight here. And guess who is happy! well most of the plants seem happy with the indirect light. We have a entry way passage garden where there was too much of environmental pollution, so just Snake plant and Chinese Bamboo plants are growing well outside out entrance.

 Two window sill , window gardens, loads of plants, packed tightly, of course, me, the obsessive gardener!

 Sharing practical tips for adding some Pizzazz  to a window sill garden-
1) check the sunlight, choose plants appropriately. If low sunlight, then it is difficult  to grow flowering plants and bulbs. More direct sunlight for even a few hours, bravo, grow roses and just about every plant! but we are lucky, low sunlight, means more ornamental foliage colours and plants that are indoor loving types. Ferns, Rubber, palm, Jade, succulents, cactus's, aloe vera, ribbon grass, purple hearts, and so many options available. I am going to try out roses, so brought a yellow rose plant and it seems fine.

2) space is limited. and also height of the window is limited. Choose plants that will be visible while you sit on the sofa or chair. What I did earlier, all plants were lined up, but nothing visible for us , we had to go near the window to see our garden! so have a mixture of height plants. stands, and plant holders are great, we get good stylish ones of wrought iron. they add style to your window garden. Add some glam quotient ,choose great containers and coloured foliage plants. I did make over of many pots by coloring them, adding some glam with different techniques, recycling old garden containers. Add some Pizzazz!
3) Beauty for you and for others too! we added a granite stone stopper, to stop water from flowing outside wall of our home. The stopper of a few inches height, see that the containers fall below so that you do not splash muddy water out. Now my plants are happy, I have no fear of messing the outside wall colour with muddy stains! arranged them well according to their size and sunlight requirements.  Spray water regularly on the leaves so that they are fresh and happy! watering is a careful task, that each one learns according to how the plants communicate about their thirst levels.

sometimes I do miss our terrace garden, blast of sunlight we had lovely Anthuriums and lillies, riot of colour roses, mogras, spider lilly, peace lilly,  always blooming by! we have saved all the bulbs and hoping they do oblige with some blooms in this controlled low sunlight window garden..maybe will have to coax them a little!

 One of the Best experiences ever visiting flower shows and Gardens.  Keukenhof also famous as The garden of Europe. Holland Netherlands, the climate was fantastic with just the right amount of cold. Best climate for flowering of Tulips, thousands of varieties the garden is large, as the eye moves about we see large expanses of flowers and flowers and colors. great display and garden arrangements not only attracts visitors from all over the world but is also a great canvas for filming and artists inspirations.

 Wondering about Tulips flowering, yes, I could see how gradually the flowers bloomed. as the back sides still had fresh buds about to bloom and these I think would bloom within fifteen more days or so.
The Tulip festival at Holland in April and May is the best time to visit Europe and enjoy the show,  which lasts for only few months.
 These  were the hybrid variety of big sized blooms. latest technology and blooming techniques creating wonders of the world!

 Tulips are huge, the vibrant rich colours are visible from long distances. Outside the garden we can see fields of tulips growing everywhere. It is as your bus is about nearing all the way you can see fields of tulips growing on both sides of the road. No wonder Holland Netherlands  is the largest exporter of tulips around the globe.

About true love stories..some love stories never end! really!! with tears in my eyes, sharing the beautiful bonding! the mogra plant that is with us for more than a decade and half and what a bonding of true love!
Each of our garden plants have their own story of welcome , sharing spaces, sharing containers and shifting places and though we lost many due to very low light in this new space here, many have have been alongside as true friends. One special and loving plant is the Mogra.

each plant bonds with us, with excitement do we buy plants and there is so much we feel for the new entry to our family of extended plants. the mogra plant that is with us for more than fifteen years, and was saved after it was attacked by red pests. 

Such a small plant it had grown into a healthy size and did not flower, there was wonder in my thoughts as to whether this one is a flowering one or not. My first experience with growing Mogra plant. There was an innocent love bonding between us and I was an amateur gardener, the time was full of energy and of courses trying out techniques, tips, flowering and garden container ideas. While there was a dream fulfilled of a pent house with a terrace garden , there ware challenging situations with very strong sunlight for most hours of the day. 

With the little one that came in a small black nursery bag, this one has surely seen quite a life till date. Why it was going limpy and the leaves drying, there were red aphids attached to its roots. So began the trials together and it did allow me the liberty to trim shoots, dig it up, trim roots, manually wash out the bugs and spray with force watering to help it. With no experience the time was of waiting in anticipation, and even though I did not have any hope, the plant surely sprung up and gave out amazingly healthy shoots of greens and flowered abundantly. Since then it has given loads of big sized awesomely fragrant mogra flowers. 

Years of trails and turbulence, shifting of spots in the terrace garden, repotting issues and trimming harshly the over growths, trimming roots too to help it grow healthy, all the tasks come in a form of a story of this beautiful mogra plant. It was always so happy for me, it never asked for anything, truly a close friend, this plant never required any fertilization or additional care, it just keeps blooming!

This one after being saved has given loads and loads of big sized mogra flowers. 

After shifting to a new place with entryway garden and no sunlight challenges, this Moghu, Mogra, dried and my personal turmoils.., and travelling times, winter did its work. As it looked completely dried I had mixed feelings.

Being with us and the the challenges of watering, sunlight, air, dust ,pollution issues, even our windows do not get direct sunlight, I had hardly expected any one to be with me. In process of refurbishing garden design and ornamental pots on my wish list. they have blessed me with being alongside with me in this times of change. 

Then finally added it to a smaller pot and it took rest, I think a month has gone, and with no signs of life..and yet, you keep watering it, hoping for some miracle, deep down you also feel it is time..so many years...and suddenly a growth of fresh tiny leaf , you will never understand the feeling of a true gardener, about this immense happiness, hope, bravo to moghu! This is true love, true love stories never end!

Life is like a garden, you have to keep trimming, editing, repotting and shifting, and deal with the garden of life on moment to moment ,daily basis. Relationships too need care and delicate handling. You will learn so much from gardening, there are always lessons for those who want to learn. never give up, never every give up for what you want in life! Have the clarity of goals in life and you will see beautiful roads unfolding in front of you, that is the way of the Universe! 

Just in case you see some plants dried , do give them some time before throwing them or replacing them! plants are living, they feel your love and they want to love you, only if you are aware of their emotions, you would understand, the meaning of true unconditional love!~

Dubai is a beautiful city with city scapes of tall towers and modern contemporary structures. With the largest mall in the world Dubai Mall and the famous Dhow cruise and Dessert safari, I had not expected to get this treat. What a pleasant surprise and Awesum treat! Thank you Dubai!
What as a Gardener I learned, not every plant will grow in soil. Especially the fantastical showy flowers petunias with shocking brilliant colours but very tricky to grow. Original small pots can be arranged with using garden decor ideas and metal frames to make flower arrangements. Huge racks, metal stands and garden ornaments very well used to make sculptures and absolutely magical garden designs. Go have that dream floral cottage!(the mind shouts out to the Universe!)
