The Amaltus Tree ,National flower of Thailand, a symbol of royalty and high position also considered auspicious in Kerala, state flower here. The Mughals loved the flowers it seems as history indicates and there are many Amaltas trees also in the Shalimar Gardens.
In Delhi we see many Amaltus trees everywhere and in hot summers these trees are at their best with bright yellow soothing blooms. The Amaltus flowers grow in bunches and hang from the Amaltus trees. I have learned that the Amaltus tree is very beneficial and all its parts right from the flowers, tree bark to the roots can be used for medicinal purposes, though I personally do not favour using any herbs in raw form and without consulting a qualified Ayurvedic physician, my husband.
Roots used in skin diseases.The bark also used in many other diseases like diarrhoea, constipation, stomach problems. The leaves are also beneficial in dry cough. Also found that scientifically proved to treat skin problems, the flowers for skin and lowering cholesterol. On the whole a very good helpful and beneficial Amaltus tree. Antioxidant and anti bacterial properties, The golden shower tree is not only beautiful cheery yellow flowers but also every part of the tree is of use.
From now I will look more closely on all the trees grown on roads and elsewhere as we do not know God has made every thing for a purpose and nothing in nature goes waste,we just have to find out. Guess nature has its own way of recycling.  The Amaltus golden yellow flowers can be dried and the dried flowers can be used in Ikebana flower arrangements.
The yellow golden carpet , a beautiful sight in Delhi when the Amaltus trees are laden with yellow blooms and the roads are dressed with golden yellow carpet, a welcoming sight!
